Description:

A windmill in Provence is the stuff of dreams. It evokes ancient stones, open views, clear blue skies, fragrant shrubs and bushes. In the 19th century Alphone Daudet lived in such a mill in Provence and wrote his famous "Lettres de Mon Moulin". Now we have a beautifully restored willmill to offer our clients. It is located on a small hill overlooking the charming village of Paradou and the gently rolling fields of the Bouches du Rhône.

This ancient mill has just been renovated by its French owners to provide a stylish and romantic accommodation. Inside is a picture of the owner's mother in the 1930s sitting as a young girl in front of this very mill. So the purchase and renovation of the mill is a dream-come-true for the owner, and our clients get to reap the benefits. It is just 1 km down the hill and along the road to reach the village of Paradou. So one has easy access to both villages and countryside.

The outside is beautifully landscaped with a patio, table and chairs so that one can enjoy the 360 degree view. Inside, it is the original shape which means, circular rooms....one on each of the 3 floors, with an excellent, but circular stairway with bannister along the wall. The owner has cleverly furnished the mill, so that furniture and fixtures fit along the curving walls offering not only comfort, but a great aesthetic appeal. It is decorated in white with accents of red, black and steel grey. Very pretty. The ground floor has the compact, but very attractive and functional kitchen. There is a 2-burner halogen stove top, a combination microwave/oven, and a half refrigerator with freezer. And naturally, there is a circular table and seating. Attractive stairs lead up to the second level... the living room with a love seat, armchair and hassock. Continuing upstairs is the top level, the bedroom with a queen-sized bed and the bathroom hidden behind a partial grey wall with a contemporary sink, glass-walled shower with rain shower head and toilet. This room has exposed beams painted white to blend in the walls and windows that open to the wonderful view.

Location Information:

Outskirts of Paradou, a small village with restaurant, post office, and a few shops. 1km to Maussane village with weekly market and a good selection of most facilities. 16km East of Arles all facilities and train station. 40km SE of Avignon Pope's Palace, all facilities, high speed train to Paris.

This is in the "so called" golden triangle near famous St. Rémy, Les Baux and Arles. The area has Roman ruins, a beautiful small mountain range, charming villages and fields of olive trees and vines. In season, the course camarguaise, or local bull fights and accompanying festivities are held in many villages. Click here to learn more about the attractions of: Provence
