Description:

Cagnes sur Mer is set in a landscape of hills covered with olive and orange trees. It has an old city with a medieval castle as well as the new city and beaches. Renoir spent the last 12 years of his life here attracted by the views of the sea and the old village. Our house is in the neighborhood in which he lived, just a block from his house which is now a museum and houses his collection. This is a quiet, residential area on the edge of the center of Cagnes. You can take a free bus into the old city, or walk down to the town and the beaches.

Built in 1920 by an artist who studied with Renoir, the house was recently purchased by the French owners for their own vacation use and has been renovated to provide good, simple and comfortable accommodations. The house is a corner property, and the garden is walled and nicely landscaped with pool, excellent shade and a patio area.

The circular living room with fireplace has leather sofas, comfortable seating and a door to the patio and pool. The eat-in kitchen also has a door to the patio and gazebo for outdoor eating. The bedrooms have a pleasant, old fashioned-style. One has a queen bed with doors to the bathroom and the other side of the patio. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet and is also reachable by the hall. The other has a double and a single bed.

A French couple lives below in an apartment with separate entrance.

The house was lovely-an oasis. The pool was wonderful, and the house was very well appointed. We liked the close proximity to the A8(autoroute), beaches, and the airport for an early flight! The Renoir museum was very interesting. Very comfortable, well equipped for every need in the kitchen. Very clean. Had a good flow for our family. The kids loved the TinTin sheets! Great breezes in the evenings. One block to pasta/ravioli “factory”, charcuterie, 2 boulangeries, Intermarch?.
