The town of Vence is a special place in the Alpes Maritimes. Located just 15 minutes from the beaches at Cagnes sur Mer, it is a world away from the cosmopolitan environment of the coast and offers a real French village experience. Its main square is shaded by massive plane trees and has many cafés with outdoor patios. On the outskirts of town is the famous chapel with its spectacular stained glass windows designed by Matisse. Within 10 minutes drive are two of the most famous modern art museums in France and perhaps the world, the Maeght Foundation and the Gallerie Beaubourg.

Below Vence is a very pleasant neighborhood where this lovely house is located. Although there are other houses around, this is a rural setting with excellent privacy. And you can walk into Vence, although it is uphill into the town. The house is very comfortably furnished, is bright and cheery and makes a terrific family rental. And it is completely air conditioned! The ground floor has a large open living room/dining room with doors on three sides that open onto a wrap-around terrace with a pretty view of trees, surrounding hills and the sea in the far distance. One can eat at the dining room table and feel as if you are outdoors. The fully equipped, built-in kitchen opens onto the front patio where just below is a charming sitting area with a graceful palm tree--a lovely setting to enjoy meals. The backyard has shaded seating under the trees, a ping pong table, and a summer kitchen. The pool which receives lots of sun is surrounded by tall hedges.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms: a double with a small terrace, a twin(can be made as one large bed), and another double with an ensuite bath, sink and toilet. In the hall is another bathroom with bathtub, sink and toilet. Downstairs by the front hall is the third full bath with shower, sink, and toilet.

The discreet owners, a retired couple, may stay in a studio apartment at the back of the property. However, they respect the privacy of the clients. The pool and the main grounds of the house are for the exclusive use of the clients.

We loved the lush, green setting and mature trees and flowers. The boules court which we used. The little terrace where we had coffee & croissants most mornings. Being perfectly located for Riviera touring. Lovely modern bathrooms. Etc., etc. The owners are warm, helpful and very kind!
