Description:Built in 1789, this charming manor house, was once the summer home of a wealthy merchant from Grasse. Sitting under the trees by the pool near the original fountain and the bridge to the little chapel, it is easy to imagine years gone by. The current owners renovated the house with great taste. It is a jewel.Entry is on a large open patio with breathtaking views. The front door opens to the living room with original tile floors, fireplace, square ceiling beams and white walls. The contemporary sofas in taupe coordinate with elegant curtains and create a calm ambiance. This lovely room opens to the impressive kitchen. It has white walls, wood cabinet doors and stainless steel light fixtures. Two stylish square sinks have brass faucets and are in front of windows with wonderful views. All the appliances are beautiful including an antique stove with a special steamer to make bread and a large stainless steel refrigerator. A rectangular table seats 8 for those who love to cook and socialize. A door leads to the sun room..now the dining room with more seating for 8 and windows on two sides. This sun room opens to the side garden and a pergola... vines shading a dining table for meals in the garden! Here there is a greenhouse for cactii, the cactus garden and the barbecue. Back in the house, on the other side of the living room and entry is a library with a bathroom with toilet and sink. Circular stairs in this room lead up to the second floor. The master bedroom is quite beautiful with red tile floors, taupe hand-painted walls, a romantic headboard made of antique wainscoating and a queen bed. A flat screen TV is hidden behind a panel. The ensuite bathroom has a bathtub, sink and toilet. The twin bedroom next door is smaller, but still very pretty with 2 beds side by side, a bit low (can be made as one). A separate bathroom has stall shower and sink. The circular stairway continues to the top floor which is quite pretty with attic-style ceilings. Although most of this space has normal height, the edges do slope down so care must be taken. In the center is an attractive seating area with sofa and chairs. On the hill side of this floor, there is a bedroom with queen bed. On the valley side is another bedroom with twin beds which are slightly low (can be made as one). Windows look out on the wonderful view. Both of these spaces are separated by curtains only from the sitting area. This allows the area to be totally open if desired, creating a very pleasant area. Off the sitting area is a bathroom with bathtub, hand shower, square sink and toilet. Because this space can be totally open, it is perhaps best suited for just one couple, by a family, or by singles. From the living room a stairway leads down to the garden level rooms. Here there is another, smaller library and a pretty bedroom with a bed that is smaller than a standard double. A hall leads towards the front of the house, and a small bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. The main room is past the bathroom and opens to the lower patio. This room is spacious and bright with one grey wall, the rest white and accents of red. Very pretty. There is a double bed, an armchair, a small kitchen and table for 2. This is an ideal space for a couple who enjoys the privacy of their own floor and direct access to this garden level patio. From the main or entry patio, a walkway shaded by vines leads to the pool and its wonderful views. A path continues around to the garden patio, the cactus garden and the pergola that is outside the kitchen door. One can descend a stairway to the terraced hillside below and its olive trees. The setting and the view across the valley are wonderful. Although the house has 6 bedrooms, occupancy is restricted to 8 people. Thus guests can select exactly where they wish to sleep. A delightful choice! Location Information:1km W of Grasse center, most facilities including restaurants, food shops, post office, daily outdoor food market, perfume factories. 20km N of Cannes, all facilities, beaches and train. 50 km NW of Nice airport.
