Fontvieille is in a pretty setting with the mountains of Les Baux to the north and open rolling hills dotted with Roman ruins to the south. The village itself has a good selection of shops and a weekly market. It even has its own bullfighting arena for the local Corse Carmarguaise in which the bull isn't killed. This is a village with alot of local pride. To the west are the ruins of the Abbaye de Montmajour where concerts are held in summer. To the east is Paradou and its well-known bistrot. This is a terrific location.

This restored house is the end section of an ancient mas set in a open field with just a few other houses nearby. Combining history with modern conveniences, it is pretty with extra touches to provide a charming Provencal home. It has retained the old stone walls and exposed beams and is decorated in classic Provencal colors. The house has a graceful feeling with high ceilings, stone floors, and good lighting. The living room/dining room is quite large with two very comfortable sofas, an open fireplace, and a large wooden dining table with a zinc top. French doors open to the front gravel patio and an open view. There are several pretty antique pieces including a grandfather clock. The kitchen is terrific with a professional stove and a bar separating it from the eating area which has an oval, marble-topped table. A door leads to a small side patio and access to the pool. In the hallway connecting the kitchen and dining room is a bathroom with walk-in shower stall, sink and toilet. This is good to use for those coming from the pool.

The upstairs landing has a small sitting area that serves to divide the upstairs in two sides. All the bedrooms are pretty with fine linens, built-in closets with antique Provencal doors, good lighting and pleasant color schemes. One side has two bedrooms: one with a queen bed; the other with a double bed. There is air conditioning in these bedrooms. There is a large bathroom with bathtub, shower stall, sink and separate toilet. The other side of the upstairs has a large bedroom with twin beds (which can be made as one). Adjacent is a bedroom with an antique double "lit bateau" and its ensuite bathroom separated by a 3/4 wall with walk-in shower, sink and toilet. These bedrooms have fans. Due to the bathroom configuration, this part of the upstairs is best for a family.

The pool is to the side of the house. The grounds are very large and well landscaped with open views. This is a wonderful property for anyone that appreciates charm, comfort, location and a great kitchen!
