Description:

Maussane is a wonderful little village in the Bouches du Rhône region of Provence. Located just below the famous perched village of Les Baux, it has a prized location in pretty rolling countryside with Roman ruins nearby and easy access to St. Rémy and Arles. It has a good selection of food shops and restaurants, has a weekly outdoor market and is extremely well located to tour the region. This house belongs to a local family and has been renovated with Provencal charm. It has a large front garden which is set well back from the narrow main street. The swimming pool and another garden are in the back of the house and provide a pleasant country feel. There is a back alley for residents where the parking is located. This house is in an ideal location for walking to all the wonderful facilities of this terrific village.

Although the house dates from the 1800s, it isl newly renovated while maintaining its original architectural charm. The ground floor has exposed stone walls, curved archways, tile floors and exposed wood beams, giving a rustic yet elegant look. The curtains are linen, and the furniture is comfortable and very attractive. The living room is quite large with a big open fireplace and French doors to the back garden with pool. The dining room faces front and has French doors that open to the large front garden. The eat-in kitchen is well-equipped with facilities built into a provencal cupboard, a charming touch. There is a door to a back pantry and then to the pool. There is a half bath on the ground floor

The upstairs, although slightly, is also charming. On one side of the landing there is a master bedroom with a queen bed (can be divided in two on request), ensuite bathroom with bathtub, double sink and toilet. An adjacent smaller room has a double bed and crib. This "suite" then is ideal for parents and a small child or baby. On the other side of the landing are two bedrooms: one with two singles; one with two slightly narrow singles. In each room the beds can be made as one large bed. There is a large bathroom with bathtub, stall shower with rain shower head, sink and a separate toilet. This floor has an air conditioning unit in the main hall.

This is a lovely characteristic house in a charming village that is well located for touring the wonders of the Bouches du Rhone.

Client Comments:

"Beautiful house in a beautiful village--with the International New York Times available right across the street."
-Sue B., Belmont, MA
"We loved everything: the décor, huge bathrooms-especially for Europe; excellent lighting, huge refrigerator. Quiet, but not isolated. You are within 5 minutes of everything one needs--bars, groceries, bakeries, restaurants, shopping--great location to hang out, but close to larger cities. WE LOVED IT!!!"
-RoxAnne C., Lusby, MD

"The house was delightful and so was the town. Just as you had said. Although we arrived tired, we were greeted warmly and sent to dinenr at a nearby restaurant. The owner is charming. The restaurants were nice and within walking distance. Shopping for local food was convenient. Parking for the car was, too. We enjoyed the area. It was easy to travel daily in any direction. Wanted to let you know you helped make our 2 weeks in Provence a wonderful trip. It was nice to have a home away from home".
