Description:Maussane is a wonderful little village in the Bouches du Rhône region of Provence. Located just below the famous perched village of Les Baux, it has a prized location in pretty rolling countryside with Roman ruins nearby and easy access to St. Rémy and Arles. It has a good selection of food shops and restaurants, has a weekly outdoor market and is extremely well located to tour the region. This house belongs to a local merchant and has been renovated with Provencal charm. Right on the main street, it has a large front and back garden and courtyard. All newly renovated, the downstairs has stone walls, tile floors and exposed wood beams, giving a rustic, but clean and elegant look. The curtains are linen, and the furniture is comfortable and very attractive. The living room/dining room is quite large with a big open fireplace and French doors front and back. There is a half bath on the ground floor. The kitchen is well-equipped with door to the front patio and an archway to the dining room. The upstairs is simpler in style. A master bedroom has a queen bed, ensuite bathroom with bathtub, double sink and toilet and an adjacent child's room with single bed and crib. Off the main hallway are two bedrooms: one with two slightly narrow singles; one with two singles that can be made as one big bed. There is a large bathroom with bathtub, stall shower and sink, separate toilet. Location Information:In Maussane, good selection of all shops and weekly market. 10km E of Arles, all facilities.Client Comments:We loved everything: the décor, huge bathrooms-especially for Europe; excellent lighting, huge refrigerator. Quiet, but not isolated. You are within 5 minutes of everything one needs--bars, groceries, bakeries, restaurants, shopping--great location to hang out, but close to larger cities. WE LOVED IT!!!RoxAnne C., Lusby, MD The house was delightful and so was the town. Just as you had said. Although we arrived tired, we were greeted warmly and sent to dinenr at a nearby restaurant. The owner is charming. The restaurants were nice and within walking distance. Shopping for local food was convenient. Parking for the car was, too. We enjoyed the area. It was easy to travel daily in any direction. Wanted to let you know you helped make our 2 weeks in Provence a wonderful trip. It was nice to have a home away from home. -Ann K., Helena, AZ |
