Description:

This wonderful 200 year old farmhouse stands in open countryside surrounded by vineyards producing Côte du Ventoux wines. In the distance are views of Mt.Ventoux, the highest peak in Provence, and the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range. It's a lovely setting. A 10-minute drive takes you to Beaumes de Venise, famous for its Muscat wine, Carpentras with the largest outdoor market in Provence and the oldest synagogue in France, and a multitude of other charming small villages. It's an excellent location.

The farmhouse is fully renovated and has a serene and elegant décor, while retaining a country ambiance. It is decorated in neutral tones of taupe and cream. A charming small library with fireplace serves as the entry to the house. The dining room with rectangular table opens to the living room. Both are open rooms with stylish concrete floors, elegant area rugs, exposed beams, a fireplace, artwork, gold-framed mirrors, and French doors to the deck and garden. Two large sofas are upholstered in natural linen. There are windows on three sides of the living room that take advantage of the views. On the other side of the entry room is the large kitchen with a professional quality stove, traditional zinc counters, recessed lighting, and a wooden table for eating. It, too, has windows on three sides and faces the entry garden and bassin. Immediately outside the kitchen door is a large shaded terrace for eating outside with a summer kitchen and barbeque. A shower, sink and toilet are off the entry.

Upstairs is a pleasant study which leads to the bedrooms. The study has a sofa which can open to a comfortable double bed for extra sleeping flexibility if necessary.

The master is a large bedroom with a 4-poster queen bed and ensuite bathroom with freestanding, elegant bathtub, sink and toilet. A room with a double bed has an ensuite bathroom with bathtub, shower over, sink and toilet. A twin bedroom(can be made as one large bed) also has access to this bathroom through the study or could use the downstairs shower. All the bathrooms have designer fixtures from Phillipe Starck providing understated elegance. This is a beautiful house.

The pool has wood decking, an outdoor shower, lavender beds and fields of vines beyond. With a small bassin in the front, the setting around the house is very pretty. The gardens have a number of mature fruit and other trees that provide shady relaxing places to sit. There is a vegetable garden which visitors are welcome to sample, a small woodland and a wildflower meadow. From the garden one can see the Dentelle mountains and Mt. Ventoux. It is a beautiful setting and a beautiful home.

Client Comments:

"Our holiday couldn't have been more splendid. The style and design of the farmhouse was perfection and in muted good taste. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the views over the vineyards and mountains were breathtaking. The property is on level ground which made coming home in the dark after dinner easy. It was a pleasure to cook in the great farmhouse kitchen and at the outdoor wood grill. There was an abundance of clean, lovely towels and bedding. It was outstanding in every respect with even additional amenities not described. The owners thought of everything to assure the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. "
-Geoffrey F., New York, NY
"The house was perfectly suited to us. We loved all the linens, the Lacanche stove, the French doors, the herb gardens and the wonderful pool--filled with clear, cold mineral water--no chlorine."
-Gywenyth J., Sleepy Hollow, NY
"What a fabulous, well-thought-through home. Beautiful, clean, great linens and towels. MANY outdoor seating areas to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the spectacular views. I liked the time Carolyn spent on the phone with me reveiwing my list. I was impressed by her great knowledge of each property."
