Description:

This attractive village house is situated on a tree lined street just at the entrance to the small medieval village of Caromb. It's a short walk into the village center and its good selection of shops, yet the backyard of this house feels like the countryside. The perfect combination! A cornflower blue door opens to a gracious home that has been fully renovated with an eye to charm and authenticity.

In the front is a lovely living room/dining room decorated in pale yellow, white and accents of blue. There is an open fireplace and exposed beams. There are 2 comfortable sofas and an antique wooden dining table and chairs. This is a warm and welcoming room. A sun room with additional seating is attached and has doors to the garden. An entry hall leads to the pretty kitchen with a country table, blue cupboards, white tiles and French doors to the garden. It is extremely well-equipped. The garden is beautifully landscaped with a view of Mt. Ventoux in the distance. In traditional style, a wooden farm table is shaded by a persimmon tree. A bassin or fountain offers a pleasant spot for cooling off. This is a garden for both sunny and cool days. There is a toilet and sink off the hall. The ground floor of this house is ideal for "indoor-outdoor living."

Stairs lead upstairs to the bedrooms, each of which is in a different Provencal color scheme. There are 3 bedrooms: one room with a queen bed, one room with a double bed and one room with a single bed. Off the hall are two bathrooms. One has bathtub, wall shower, sink and toilet. The other has a shower stall with separate toilet and sink. The top floor has an open studio--a pleasant space for leisure activities--card writing, reading or playing games. The entire house is quite prettily decorated with good use of fabrics, color, and antique furniture. Easy parking immediately across from the house.

This is a wonderful location to enjoy the Vaucluse as it is an easy drive to Roman ruins at Vaison and its terrific summer music festival as well as the market at Carpentras and one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. Most of the great Côtes du Rhône villages are within a 15 minute drive. Excellent hiking and biking throughout the area.

Client Comments:

"We rate our stay 5+ out of 5! The house is so appealing and so comfortable. The furnishings were just beautiful. The kitchen is so well-appointed. The library of books, including wonderful cooking and tour books, added a special dimension. The house and backyard provided us with an aesthetic experience which added immeasurably to our enjoyment of Provence. We're already planning our next trip back!"
-C. Swerdloff., Reston, VA.

"We spent 6 weeks in Tuscany and Provence but our 2 weeks at Le Charmarey far surpassed any other accommodations. We didn't want to leave! Le Charmarey has everything you would wish for! Beautifully furnished---provençal pottery and fabrics--the garden full of herbs and flowers. We ate at the garden table most nights."
-K. King., San Rafael, CA.
