Description:

The Vaucluse region in Provence is known for its famous Côte du Rhone wines, each one named for the village where it is produced. Vineyards extend across the open valley to the Dentelles mountains which rise dramatically from the rocky soil. This is a very beautiful setting. Sablet is one of the tiny villages near the base of the mountains. It is a "village rond", located on a small hill with its church at the top and houses built around it. This is a wonderful location for enjoying Provence. In addition to enjoying the wines and restaurants in this area, this is a great spot for touring. Just north is famous Vaison la Romaine with its medieval village, Roman ruins, lively weekly market and wonderful summer music festival. Orange with its Roman theater and concert series is to the west. Carpentras is just south and has the oldest synagogue in France located in its charming pedestrian-only town center. It's a short trip to the Roman aqueduct at the Pont du Gard as well as to Avignon and the Palais des Papes and to Isle sur la Sorgue and its river activities.

This simple and pleasant accommodation is owned by a local vintner. It feels like it is in the country, yet is just a short walk to the center of the village. Located inside the domaine where the owner lives, it is a second story accommodation that offers excellent privacy and includes use of their pretty pool.

The domaine is a walled square. The owner's portion forms 2 sides of the square and our accommodation is on the third side. Walk into the ancient barn and take a flight of stairs to the upstairs. On the landing are two doors. One door opens to the private open balcony where you can enjoy the outdoors with excellent sun. The other door opens to the apartment itself. The first room is the main living room with open kitchen, dining area and living room. The kitchen is newly renovated and is all built-in. A counter separates it from the rest of the room. There is a dining room table and 4 chairs next to a pretty wall all in exposed stone. The living area has a sofa and comfortable chairs with French doors to a second, smaller balcony. Recessed light, white walls and touches of grey and chartreuse, make this a welcoming space. A hall leads to the bedrooms. There is one room with a queen bed and one with a double bed. The bathroom is at the end of the hall with stall shower, sink and toilet.

Location Information:

Edge of Sablet, bakery, grocery, cafe and simple shopping. 42km N of Avignon all facilities, high speed train.

Client Comments:

"The property was even nicer than described--a huge value for the money. Lots of space. Very comfortably appointed. The owners were helpful, but always gave us our space. Our son soon fell in love with their dog, "Shadow".
