Description:This is an ideal location to enjoy the most famous chateaux of the Loire Valley. Located in the tiny hamlet of Le Port, this house is on the banks of the Cher river. It is just 4km along a country path to the beautiful Chenonceau chateau. Drive half an hour to the west to see Tours, half an hour north to Amboise and a bit further to Blois. The area is dotted with charming villages, river views and open fields cultivated with sunflowers and wheat.Built in the 1870s this was originally a fisherman's abode. Now fully renovated by its new owners, it is charming and welcoming. It is on a private drive with a gated back garden and the river beyond. From the back patio one can enjoy the fruit trees and the peaceful view. Just past the garden gate, is a country path along the river to Chenonceau. The ground floor has a fully renovated, spacious country kitchen with white walls, tile floor and a door to the garden. The antique wooden farmer's table seats 8. The living room is adjacent with comfortable seating, fireplace and a door to the garden. A guest toilet and sink is by the entry. There is a master bedroom on the ground floor with a king bed(slightly low to the floor) and and ensuite bathroom with bathtub, sink and toilet. Stairs lead upstairs to 2 more bedrooms. A queen bedroom opens to a family room. This family room has the television and possible sleeping for 2 children. The king bedroom(bed slightly low) across the hall has a sink and doors to an office. The bathroom has stall shower, sink and toilet. The upstairs has attic-style ceilings which give a cozy feeling to the space. Location Information:1km to St. Georges-sur-Cher cafe, food store, PO, Sunday market (best reached by bike due to a traffic circle). 1km to Chissay train, bakery(walkable). 4km Chenonceau chateau. 6km W of Montrichard most facilities. 36km to Tours high speed train to Paris, all facilities.Client Comments:Fabulous. Just charming. Exactly what we wanted. It gave us a setting to be all together instead of being in separate hotel rooms. Great for touring.-Carolyn B., Berkeley, CA |
