Description:Located 90 km east of Bordeaux along the historical Dordogne River, this chateaux was built in stages from the 16th -19th centuries and has been beautifully updated for the modern day traveler. Standing in the midst of 7 delightful acres of woods and lawned grounds this property has been sited as the original hunting ground of the Duke de la Force and entertained Henry the fourth. The grounds encompass relaxed gardens and walking trails, numerous terraces and huge trees offering welcome shade - as well as access to the Dordogne river for rafting, canoeing and fishing. The interior of the property boasts impressive reception rooms with limestone block walls, high ceilings with exposed beams, chandeliers, and dark wood floors, doors and molding giving a stylish, elegant atmosphere. There are many outdoor sitting areas, but the main one overlooks the garden and river and is perfect for outdoor dining.Main floor: Large tiled entrance hall. Living/ dining room with large marble fireplace and 2 sets of French doors leading to various porches and gardens. Library with fireplace, views of river, computer and television/video. Well equipped large kitchen with fireplace and eating area and separate private porch. Large guest bedroom with 2 double beds, sitting area, faux fireplace and view of river. A full bathroom with shower is at the landing area and a laundry room with washer and dryer is located behind the kitchen near the furnace room. Second Floor: 1 master king size bedroom with fireplace, high ceilings and large windows overlooking the garden and river. There is a small, yet cozy twin bedroom and one queen bedroom that can be made up as two twin beds pushed together. 1 Bathroom with separate shower and a larger with a bathtub are separate from the bedrooms. Shower room. Third Floor: Accessed by a very tight spiral staircase, a lovely domed bedroom is found with 3 windows with some of the best views. This room is equipped with 4 twin beds with down duvets and shares the bathrooms on floor 2. Great for young people! Location Information:2 km to La Force and Prigonrieux (bank, bakery, grocery, post office), 12km to Bergerac (rail station, culture, shopping, museums, restaurants, business).The Dordogne is one of the most beautiful places in France and a perfect holiday location. It is a land of tradition, with a rich historical past, including a great legacy from the Hundred Years War in the 13th century. castles....chateaux and museums are abundant! The small city of La Force and Prigonrieux are about 2 km from the house and provide banks, patisserie shops and groceries. Bergerac is only 12 km. away with an attended train station. Cafés, museums, shopping and markets are woven through the ancient coblestone streets and buildings. Within a 25 km radius, Riandaule is inundated with markets, wineries, castles and gardens. Bordeaux and Paris are day trips, and since this area is in the midst of the world's best known vineyards and gardens, one can never be without something to do! The luxury city of Bordeaux is only an hour train ride and is filled with history, culture and excitement.
