Description:
The countryside outside St. Cyprien is in the heart of the Dordogne with its lush hills, windy rivers and charming 18th century villages. From here one can visit 16th century castles, medieval towns, and ancient cave paintings. The cusine is classic French cooking with confit, truffles, goose, walnut oils and foie gras. And for those who love the outdoors this is a wonderful location for river swimming, canoing, hiking and biking. All told a perfect spot for a memorable vacation in this famous region.
In the 1800s, this charming cottage was the last and"newest" addition to the charming hamlet of Le Colombier. This 200 year old structure has now been totally renovated to provide a pretty and comfortable accommodation. It's one of several stone houses in this hamlet set in green countryside not far from the market town of St. Cyprien. A picket fence encloses the garden in front. The downstairs is one large room with exposed stone walls, wood beams and comfortable seating in front of the open fireplace-- a classic style in this region. The open kitchen is totally renovated and built-in with tile backing and modern appliances.
The traditional curved stairway leads upstairs where all the bedrooms have white walls, antique bedframes and pretty country patterns on the curtains and bedspeads. The second floor has 2 bedrooms: one has a double bed; the other has two beds slightly narrower than a standard double. In the hall is a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. On the top or third floor is one large room with exposed beams and 2 double beds. Here there is another bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.
The pool is behind the house looking out on open country. This is an ideal location to feel like you've gone back in time.
